On April 21, 2023, the grand opening of the fifth photovoltaic station took place as part of the "Solar Energy for Schools" project initiated by "SHELL Kazakhstan BV" and implemented in collaboration with Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools JSC, with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Akim of Turkestan, Nurbol Turashbekov, the Chairman of the Board of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools JSC, Anuar Zhangozin, the Vice President of Corporate Relations for the Middle East, North Africa, and CIS countries of SHELL company, Joanna Königsberg, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools JSC, Kulyash Shamshidinova.
The purpose of constructing the solar station is to increase the interest of the younger generation in natural sciences, technology, and innovation, as well as to reduce the school's annual electricity consumption by up to 30% through the generated solar energy.
The solar station is designed as four street canopies with a total area of 550 square meters. Solar panels are integrated into the roofs of the structures, and the ground is covered with rubber coating. The street canopies are intended to be used for school events, educational and recreational programs in the open air.
Congratulations to Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Turkestan on this interesting, relevant, and modern acquisition - a 100 kW photovoltaic station!
From 2018 to 2023, the MEK-Astana team has designed, constructed, and put into operation all five photovoltaic stations of the "Solar Energy for Schools" project located in Astana, Aktau, Uralsk, Atyrau, and Turkestan.
The stations we have built differ in the placement of solar panels - as a canopy over a parking lot, a canopy over stadium stands, a canopy over creative areas, or as classic ground-mounted installations. However, what unites all five photovoltaic stations is the high quality of equipment and components, reliability of technical solutions employed, construction and installation carried out according to the highest standards and requirements of SHELL.
